I was told Texas is #1 and Manning was the best QB in college football though.
that might still be true. its one game,...and the kids first as the team leader...there is a ton of football to play.
I aint a manning fanboy or nothin,..but you cant write off a team or a player based on one bad outing.

unless its kyler murray

He should have been allowed to play more last year. He could well stay 2 years.
If he has a subpar season it would be smart to stay another year. It's not like he isn't making a decent amount of moolah in college.

Manning was trash. OSU QB was much better. If he didn’t have 3 drops, 2 by Jeremiah Smith, he would’ve had a very nice day.
Matt Patricia is the OSU DC this year. I’m guessing they’re gonna make a lot of teams look bad.

IF you watched the first two games of Peyton Manning's rookie season, and compared them to Ryan Leaf, Leaf was looking like the superior QB. Of course we all know how that turned out. I remember Peyton looking bad, just like this. Then he started getting used to NFL play, and of course Ryan did not.

This is college ball, a huge generous difference than the margin for error allowed in the pros

Next year is not the year to need a QB

And we’re likely going to be in the market for one in 2026.

Well thats because he sucks and couldn't beat out Ewers last season.
Arch is hyped because of his name, but that doesn't mean he is bad. Even Vince Young had really bad games early in his career. I do think Arch will be better than Ewers. Ewers had games like that last season, in spite of his experience as a starter. Ewers wasn't good against Ohio State last year and had several bad games including the OU game last year where they won in spite of Ewers. I've seen Manning play in person and he can make all the throws and he will be a dual threat. He was really bad against Ohio State though. no hiding it. He has to be better than that and I think he will be.

Ewers was a decent QB elevated by elite talent around him. I thought the fact that Manning wasn’t starting by year two was kind of telling. There are plenty of late bloomers though.

It was because ewers had more experience and is very talented. In Ewers first year with Texas, he elevated the team, but also had a great run game. I don't know that Ewers ever elevated the team after that and your point is correct that the team won in spite of him last season. you could argue his arm in some ways Ewers is better than Arch, especially the release and mid range game. but other than that Arch is better in every aspect and I think people will see that this season and perhaps next. I also think between the ears will be a difference.

He’s horrible on multiple levels.

Terrible mechanics
Terrible footwork
Missing open receivers

This is not his first year in the system it’s his third.

The kid played against nobodies in high school and the game looks too big for him.

that describes every qb that's ever played to some degree. too early to give up on him. I've seen plenty of high school QB's that beat dominant teams in high school and they never amounted to anything in college. so that' really doesn't matter anyway.

He was late too often with his throws this week. He just isn’t relaxed. He has the raw talent and certainly knows how to read a defense. Can he develop the composure to be a big time QB? Ewers was very confusing to scout. After his injury he seemed to significantly regress.

He played San Jose Nobody this week and they put up less than 40.

We can stop talking about this guy.

I've noticed an alarming lack of arm strength. HIs balls seem to float and have very little zip on them.

Chris ("Chrissy") Simms was another high profile legacy QB that my beloved Sooners would routinely pummel in the RRR.

And after beating Michigan last night (who's down but still decent), we're starting to look forward to the Texas game.

OU's offense much improved with Mateer, who is a straight up baller. That kid was born to play QB. Holy Moly.

They had 4 TD's in like 5 minutes and then took their foot off the gas so they would have won by much more had they wanted to
