Little disappointed Blake is no longer part of the staff. He's someone who I saw mentioned frequently working out with the players. Perhaps the lack of progress with our backup PG is the reason he's been let go. I know I often read how he was working with guys like Carter, Okobo, and Jerome.

Can't recall hearing anything about Greer so I don't think that is much of a loss.

Glad that Mark Bryant is still part of the staff. Hoping he's someone they keep for an extended period because Ayton has spoken highly of the work they've done together and you can see some results on the court also.

There has to be more to the story. I guess we will find out soon enough.

There are still players we don't know why they aren't in Orlando. We can guess but that's about it.

There is still not much information on Ricky Rubio and Aron Baynes along with Elie Okobo, Jalen Lecque and Tariq Owens.

From Duane Rankin at azcentral:

Devin Booker, Kelly Oubre Jr., Dario Saric, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jevon Carter, Ty Jerome, Cameron Payne, Cheick Diallo, Frank Kaminsky III and Ayton are in the Orlando bubble based on photos, videos, Zoom media interviews, radio interviews, tweets and Instagram posts.

Rubio and Baynes, two major contributors and veteran leaders in their first year with the Suns this season, haven't been identified that way, along with Elie Okobo, Jalen Lecque and Tariq Owens.

All 16 players are listed on the team media guide roster.

This is an interesting thought with Cam Johnson adding 10-12 pounds.

I'm glad Monty realizes adding weight is not to be sacrificed for quickness.

Bender bulked up too much and got stiff. Chriss needed stretching big time because he was basically a TE playing basketball!

Why pay all that money to Bertrans then?

I'm hoping the Suns don't go after Bertans when he becomes a free agent. He is sitting out Orlando and will expect a large paycheck in free agency. Let the Wizards or someone else pay him.

Both players were drafted too early. It will take time to see if either develop although Chriss looked like the better player last season with the Warriors although they could afford to play him and let him make mistakes.

I think the Suns need a more physical presence at power forward so I'm glad the Suns passed not that Cam Johnson will be that player.

Glad you mentioned him sitting out. That bothers me as far as what I'd want to see from a player that the Suns are targeting. That shows a lack of competitive drive, IMO. Hopefully when he decided to sit out, the Suns removed him from their wishlist. He'll get paid by someone but I'd rather see Cam developed as a stretch 4 with a more physical PF brought in to split time at that position.

Players like Bertans is what many NBA teams are looking for at power forward but I still like a player that can mix it up inside more and help Ayton on defense. If the Suns are going for a shooter at the 4 I'm happy with what we have plus a potential starter in free agency. I'm still a fan of Jerami Grant.

Man I do not understand the grant love. He’s a subpar rebounder. He’s not a power player. Good athlete though.

We really don't need a lot of scoring at PF. We need defensive presence, blocked shots, rebounding, and intimidation. We need that guy that alters shots. Ayton does it, but he roams out to the three point line to guard players and that leaves the lane wide open. We need that other big to be a shot blocker, clog the paint guy.

He is one of the better free agent forwards that wouldn't cost assets and fits the description of the modern day power forward. Denver used him off the bench whereas he could start for Phoenix.

I agree Ayton needs some defensive help but whoever plays with him has to be able to play outside as well so as not to clog the lane. The player you are describing sounds a bit like a center.

I am thinking someone like a Robert Covington, even a PJ Tucker. Dennis Rodman would be what we need. Someone that gets hustle points, stays out of the way on offense, but is a beast on defense and rebounding.

Robert Covington would be nice but the Rockets will keep him.

If I were to think about a traditional player (C/PF) playing next to Ayton, I've always liked Myles Turner. He is pretty athletic for a big man and some have speculated the Pacers might want to trade him.

I know, I know, I know. I've got this fantasy about that draft.

And James Jones is trying to make it come true!

I have to disagree unless you're talking about a defensive specialist off the bench. As a starting forward, this description has no appeal to me unless you're also bringing back 80's or 90's basketball. In today's NBA you might survive having a great defensive player whose best asset on offense is to get out of the way but it's a gamble especially when you consider that this type of player would be a huge foul problem with the way the game is called now.
