this is a common analysis on the Cards -- and one SI cites to justify putting the Cardinals at places like #7 overall (depending on the week) ---

because its the bye week, i went back and looked at box scores and play logs.

the big picture: Cards have fumbled 22 times, opponents 21 times. Of those 43 total fumbles, the Cards recovered 28 of them or 66%. NFL average is 50%. Definitively outside the norm.

however -- the types of fumbles are interesting.

Of the Cards 22 fumbles -- 14(!!) of them have been bad snaps, and the Cards have recovered all 14 of them. Keep in mind, if a snap hits the ground, its a fumble. For example -- on the Cards 2nd TD last week, McCoy took the shotgun snap off the ground and threw the TD pass. Thats a fumble and a recovery credited to the Cardinals.

if you exclude those 14 snaps -- every single one of them in shotgun, so recovering them seems pretty likely --- the recovery rate is...........50%.

one other interesting thing: the Cards have caused 12 fumbles by sacking the QB, and recovered 9 of them. The Cards have only had 2 fumbles caused by being sacked, and lost 1 of them.
