The new Ohio High School Athletic Association football divisions for 2025 brought one major change locally. Mogadore is back in Division VII for the first time since the 2016 season, shifting down a division due to enrollment.
The Wildcats have competed in Division VI in each of the last eight seasons. Before that, they spent one season in Division VII, Region 25 in 2016. The year prior, they were also in Division VII, but in Region 23, and finished as state runners-up.
Mogadore is the last local team to make it to the state title game, while Aurora is the last team to advance to state, falling in the Division III semifinals in 2019.
Outside of the Wildcats, everyone locally is staying put. Aurora and Roosevelt remain in Division III, Region 9. Portage County's three Metro Athletic Conference teams — Field, Ravenna and Streetsboro — remain lodged in Division IV, Region 13. The county's two Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Grey Tier teams, Garfield and Southeast, will stay put in Division V, Region 17. Rootstown is now the area's lone team in Division VI, Region 21, while Mogadore is joining Waterloo and Windham in Division VII's Region 25.
