Youth wild turkey hunters had a productive two-day season.
Ohio youth wild turkey hunters checked 1,740 birds in the special youth-only turkey hunting weekend from April 12-13, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. This is a hair below 2024 totals, when 1,785 birds were checked.
Monroe County had he most wild turkeys checked of any county, with 62 birds checked. Noble County fell closely behind at 60.
Stark County did not rank high in wild turkey numbers during the weekend, but Tuscarawas and Carroll counties ranked in the Top 10.
When does turkey hunting open for all ages in Ohio?
Turkey season will open for different counties on different dates. The 83 counties in the south zone will begin Saturday, April 19 and end Sunday, May 18. Counties in the northeast zone (Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Trumbull counties) begin Saturday, May 3 and run through Sunday, June 1.
