I was at Best Buy today and noticed that all the HDDVD's were gone. I asked if they sold them all already and the the guy said they had to send them to their distro center to make more room for Bluray and that they would be blowing them out on Bestbuy.com really soon. He said they would be like $5 a piece. Just in case anyone cared.

I care. If they are going to be $5 a piece, I'll take the $100 (from the $50 for each player rebate)they are sending me, and will buy 20 HDDVDs online.

Free Blu Ray Rentals at Hollywood Video

I have no idea why, but Hollywood video has a promo right now where you can rent any Blu Ray for free. I don't know if it is valley wide or what, but there are no strings attached. One at a time is the only limitation.

We just picked up a new player this weekend and saw that Blockbuster was charging $5 each for Blu Rays. We said no thanks, we'll try HV. We then see the promo and figured, "what's the catch?". Nothing, nada, zilch. Sign up for an account (free) and you are allowed one Blu Ray rental. Since Saturday I have watched Live Free or Die Hard, Jumper (Sunday), and Casino Royale (Monday). I have not paid one dime. I will picking up something else on my way home tonight, and every night until promo is over. It's like going to the library! Good luck.

That's pretty cool.
