Best bet is if Rolling Thunder sees the thread, but what I've gathered from the Bronco board.
Deltha's father was gravely ill, cancer, and watching his dad go through that took a tremendous toll on Deltha. He played poorly, lacked concentration etc. Apparently in prior years his rep was great athlete, raw(RB first 2 years in college) and maybe not as hard a worker as he should be. So with the concentration lapses this year, they decided his problems were getting worse not better. Rumors he was late or missing meetings, becoming a real problem.
On the surface it sounds like more of SHanahan overreacting, being a jerk, and not understanding the guys position with his father gravely ill. Apparently it became more than that and I know Bronco fans were all blaming him for losing the New England game during the season.
Deltha can return kicks, primarily punts for Denver but did both in college at Cal. Great athlete, quick, fast, has had some problems getting nicked up. The reason Cal moved him to CB was they had a lot of RB's, and he had a fumbling problem at RB. Deltha has one thing most CB's don't have, good hands, which is why it was so ironic the year he had all those picks, he had the game against us where he dropped 3 picks in the same game(Jake was the QB).
One would hope that when he recovers from the situation with his dad, who i believe has now passed away, his level of play will increase. He's always been a give up some big plays but make some kind of guy.
Worth a look but don't give up too much for him because Denver does not want him, Shanahan has said he's welcome back, but he will NEVER play defense for Denver again. Not quite clear why Shanahan has been such a hardass on him, must have been some personal stuff between them.
I've always liked him but he clearly had some knocks based on work ethic and they felt he was getting worse not better.
