During the entirety of Spring Training this year, rumors circulated surrounding the Yankees and Cardinals All-Star third basemanNolan Arenado in the spring, the teams never came close to a deal.
Rumors around Arenado and the Yankees mostly stemmed from suspicion that the 10-time Gold Glove award winner made a three-hour trip to play against the Yankees in Tampa.
Arenado did reject trades to the Los Angeles Angels and Houston Astros (who found their third base fix in Isaac Paredes, acquired in the Kyle Tucker trade).
USA Today columnist Bob Nightengale provided a surprising update on Arenado's trade saga in his column today.

Nightengale wrote that St. Louis is "not receiving any interest in third baseman Nolan Arenado after he rejected trades this winter to the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels.”
Several teams are in need of help at third base, including the Jazz Chisholm Jr-less Yankees, the Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers, who missed out on Alex Bregman this winter and are rolling with a combination of Jace Jung, Andy Ibanez and Zach McKinstry.
Thus, it's very surprising to hear there has been not a single inquiry on the widely acclaimed third baseman, who has established a reputation as one of the league's premier defenders and at worst, a solidly average hitter.
Any of the above teams, as well as the Astros and Angels, could look to trade for Arenado over the next few months, but Arenado would still have to lift his no-trade clause.
