The 2025 NFL offseason break for players is slowly winding down as teams prepare for phase two of OTAs ahead of minicamps and training camp. The 2025 NFL draft has come and gone, free agency activity is stagnant, and most NFL teams are focused on integrating their new roster additions into their plan. Since the dust has settled over the flurry of activity, ESPN's NFL Nation created post-draft power rankings that has the Washington Commanders in the top 10.

6. Washington CommandersPost-free agency ranking: 6

Most improved position: Offensive line

Though other areas might be improved, the line has definitely gotten better. Washington traded for five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil and drafted tackle Josh Conerly Jr. in the first round. Those moves allow it to move around last year's third-round pick Brandon Coleman, who started 15 games -- including all three in the postseason. It's possible Coleman ends up at guard, giving Washington a talented front once right guard Sam Cosmi returns from a torn ACL. Washington was dead set on protecting its greatest asset, quarterback Jayden Daniels, while also boosting the run game. -- John Keim

So, before the draft, the Commanders were ranked sixth, and after the draft, they remained in the same spot. Despite the improvements to the offensive line, adding Deebo Samuel, and gaining depth in much-needed areas, the NFC runner-up didn't do enough to move up in the rankings. At least, that's what this report says.

The only NFC team that should be ranked above the Commanders right now is the Philadelphia Eagles. But the defending Super Bowl champs aren't even ranked first on this list, so it shouldn't be surprising that the Detroit Lions are also above the Commanders, along with the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens. Never mind that the Lions lost both of their coordinators, while the Commanders have the same staff.

The Commanders continue to be scrutinized heavily and doubted by many. Decades of losing will do that, and one winning season isn't enough to change minds. So, the Commanders have to put this on their backs and prove to the league that they are for real and they aren't going anywhere. If they can do that in a definitive fashion in 2025 after going to the NFC Championship in 2024, it will go a long way toward earning that respect back.
