Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson will miss next week's minicamp practices with a shoulder injury.

According to Shane Steichen, Richardson experienced pain last week in his throwing shoulder, and further testing revealed it was related to the same AC joint that he injured during the 2023 season.

Steichen did not put any timeline on Richardson's potential return, but hopes to have him back at some point during training camp. Surgery is not expected.

CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones has since provided some additional insight into what Richardson is working through.

"My understanding of Colts QB Anthony Richardson's injury is that he's dealing with inflammation in the surgically repaired AC joint and the recommendation is rest," Jones posted on X. "The belief is this will not impact his availability for the start of training camp."

When Richardson does return, Steichen said they'll "ease him back into throwing" and then go from there. Before the injury popped up, Richardson was in a "really good spot," said Steichen, both on the field and in the meeting rooms.

With Richardson missing the three minicamp practices, Daniel Jones will now be getting "a lot of reps," as Steichen put it. Prior to the injury, Jones and Richardson were splitting the first-team reps.
