This is an interesting story getting lots of buzz now. The blazers hired Braiden Bell, who apparently worked in arizona for the WNBA team and a G league team doing play by play before. Portland hired Bell and then fired him like 4 hours later citing disturbing posts he'd made online that had come to light. Turns out when he was 15, he made a series of offensive posts on X, posts about Asians, misogynistic posts, sexual comments etc. Not clear how the Blazers found them from 2012 and 13 but it sounds like someone who knew who he was had reported it to them and I guess there's some innuendo it's connnected to his time with the WNBA team apparently they think one or more of the players had issues with him and found this stuff on his X page.
Tough situation he was literally 15, but apparently this wasn't 1 or 2 posts there were several so the pattern was clear. I do wonder if more is going to come out, if the claim is true we may see people that played for the Mercury or worked for them now come forward with issues he had when working for them but so far it appears to be just the tweets from 2012 and 13 that got him fired.
I get it, Portland has a LONG history of off court issue with drugs and stuff the last thing they want when they appear to be on the upswing is to hire someone who might then embarass the franchise.
