The New York Giants began mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, but star wide receiver Malik Nabers has been on the sidelines due to a toe injury.
While it's never ideal when a player misses the entirety of the spring workouts due to injury, the only real concern would be if Nabers were to miss time during training camp because of it. Considering Nabers is coming off a historic rookie campaign while playing through the toe injury, the concern appears to be minimal.
When speaking to the media Tuesday for the first minicamp practice, head coach Brian Daboll expressed no long-term concern about the injury to Nabers or any other player currently missing time due to injury.
"Yeah, I'd say with all the injuries, the guys are working hard to get back," Daboll said. "No, not long term."
Along with Nabers, the Giants have been without linebacker Bobby Okereke this spring for an undisclosed reason. However, he was dealing with a back ailment during the 2024 season. Meanwhile, left tackle Andrew Thomas is still working his way back from the Lisfranc injury that ended his season after Week 6.
"I view him as a really good player for us, and he's doing a good job of rehabbing and getting close to getting back out here," Daboll said of Thomas. "He's rehabbing, he is doing everything he can do to get better. So, we'll see when that time comes."
The Giants don't have to provide an injury report until the first week of the regular season arrives and with minicamp ending this week, there won't be many updates before the team returns from summer break at the end of July.
For now, though, these injuries appear to be at a lower concern level.
