2025 was a disappointing season for the New York Giants, to put it lightly. They came out of training camp with high hopes, only to once again fail to deliver for their loyal fan base.
In the end, they finished the regular season with a record of 4-13 after firing head coach Brian Daboll, defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, and assistant Bryan Cox mid-season.
Here are the top five disappointments of the past season.
Preseason over/under props for wins were set at 5.5 games, and some whose glass were half-full had the Giants winning as many as eight games. But a killer schedule combined with some unprecedented events simply drove the team back into the ground.
Was it a wasted year? No, as they believe they've found their franchise quarterback in Jaxson Dart, but they are back in the market for a new head coach again after firing Brian Daboll midseason. No one cares why you failed; they just know that you failed.
The professional culture throughout the building has deteriorated over time. The leadership group is hard to find throughout the organization. On a sinking ship, the leaders shouldn't be the ones jumping into the lifeboats first. The coaching staff appeared to be dead men walking all year, and that filtered down to the players. They appeared disorganized and undisciplined more often than not. Unity, synergy, and direction were nowhere to be found. Change is coming, and it is sorely needed.
It's hard to win when you lose so many key players like the Giants did this year. They lost their top tackler (linebacker Micah McFadden), top target in the passing game (wide receiver Malik Nabers), top running back and tone-setter on offense (rookie running back Cam Skattebo), and star outside linebacker (Kayvon Thibodeaux) to season-ending injuries. All four of those players left major voids in the Giants' lineup and were impossible to replace in-season.
If there was one thing the Giants could hang their hats on coming into this season was that they had the best interior defensive lineman in the NFL in Dexter Lawrence. That wasn't the case in 2025. Lawrence missed the final four games of the 2024 season with a dislocated elbow, and it lingered on into this season. Dex was clearly not himself, and the Giants' defense was greatly impacted. They were shredded by the run, and Lawrence, who racked up 9.0 sacks in 2024, had just one-half sack and seven QB hits this season.
It seemed like every week the Giants were pushing teams around for the first three quarters of games only to lose in the final frame, or overtime. They had five such games in 2025, and some of the collapses, such as the one in Denver, where they allowed 33 points to be scored on them in the fourth quarter, were historic. The defensive scheme under coordinator Shane Bowen was too passive, and it cost him and Daboll their jobs. There was also the question of conditioning, as well as the team having sufficient depth within the ranks.

A 4-13 record, well below expectations
Preseason over/under props for wins were set at 5.5 games, and some whose glass were half-full had the Giants winning as many as eight games. But a killer schedule combined with some unprecedented events simply drove the team back into the ground.

Leadership void leads to chaos

Injuries to key players hurt the cause
It's hard to win when you lose so many key players like the Giants did this year. They lost their top tackler (linebacker Micah McFadden), top target in the passing game (wide receiver Malik Nabers), top running back and tone-setter on offense (rookie running back Cam Skattebo), and star outside linebacker (Kayvon Thibodeaux) to season-ending injuries. Perplexed by Dex

Collapse after collapse was inexcusable
It seemed like every week the Giants were pushing teams around for the first three quarters of games only to lose in the final frame, or overtime.
