Brooklyn Nets guard Keon Johnson achieved plenty of milestones during the 2024-25 NBA season as he saw more playing time than he did at any other point of his career. While Johnson worked his way from a Two-Way contract to a multi-year deal with Brooklyn last season, he did more than that this season as he may have solidified his status in the league as a productive player.
Johnson, 23, averaged 10.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 38.9% from the field and 31.4% from three-point land while spending most of his time as the starting shooting guard for the team. With Cam Thomas playing just 25 games during the season due to injuries, Johnson was able to have a starting role for the first time in his career thanks to head coach Jordi Fernandez trusting him to do so.
Similar to most of his teammates, Johnson notched career-highs in plenty of categories, including points, rebounds, assists, and field-goal percentage. More than that, Johnson averaged 24.4 minutes per game which doesn't sound like a lot for him when one considers that he played 25.5 minutes per game for the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2021-22 season, his rookie year.
However, while Johnson played 697 minutes during his rookie season, he played 1,925 minutes for the Nets this season, showing how much time he spent on the floor for a Brooklyn team looking for anyone to make an impact during a 26-56 season. Johnson was one of the players that played at a level that could convince Brooklyn that he can be a member of the regular rotation when the team is in position to content for a playoff spot in the future.
Johnson saved the best for last during the season as he averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game while he played 24.7 minutes per game during his five appearances in April.
