Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas is heading into a crucial offseason for him as he will be a free-agent for the first time in his four-year NBA career. While Thomas is going into an exciting summer for him as he has definitely earned a raise, Brooklyn will have an easier time retaining him due to his status as a restricted free-agent in which the team can match offers from other teams.
Thomas, 23, is coming off the best season of his career as he averaged 24.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 43.8% from the field and 34.9% from three-point land. Thomas not only led the Nets in scoring, but he also had career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, effective field-goal percentage (accounts for the fact that three-pointers are worth more than two-pointers), and free-throw percentage.
While Thomas had the best season of his career by all metrics, he also played just 25 games, by far the lowest amount of games that he's appeared in during a season. Prior to this season, Thomas had appeared in 67, 66, and 57 games with some of those missed games being the result of the coach deciding not to put him in the game for various reasons.
Durability concerns aside, Thomas showed everything he needed to in order to prove that he is still improving as a player and still has some potential to realize, especially with his ability to make the game easier for others. Thomas is arguably the most interesting player in free-agency this offseason given that his market value has been all over the place depending on who is doing the reporting.
Either way, Thomas put his scoring ability on full display during a season in which the Nets struggled to win games during the first season of it's current rebuild. Here are some of Thomas' highlights from the 2024-25 season:
