NBA player James Harden was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon in Texas.
The arrest occurred in Houston at around 3:41 a.m. local time on Saturday, June 13, Harris County court records show.
According to a charging document filed by the Harris County District Attorney's Office and obtained by PEOPLE, Harden, 36, was knowingly carrying a handgun outside of a holster in plain view inside his vehicle.

It is not immediately clear why authorities pulled Harden over.
Harden was released on a bond of $100 later that day, and his hearing date is set for June 22, per court records.
The Houston Police Department (HPD) and representatives for the athlete did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment regarding the incident.
The point and shooting guard currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In a statement to PEOPLE, a representative for the team said, "The Cleveland Cavaliers are aware of the arrest of James Harden this morning and are in the process of gathering additional information."
"We are in contact with James and his representation and will continue to monitor developments as they become available," the spokesperson added. "At this time, we will have no further comment."

Harden has close ties to the city of Houston after playing for the Rockets for nine seasons from 2012 to 2021.
The athlete, an L.A. native, was selected third overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2009 NBA Draft after playing college basketball at Arizona State University, per ESPN.
He joined the Cavaliers in February 2026 after a midseason trade from the Clippers.
