The Cleveland Cavaliers have had a historic 2024-25 NBA season on many levels. From the team's multiple winning streaks, to their talented backcourt, this Cavaliers roster continues to enter the record books seemingly every night.
The Cavaliers, however, have their sights set on bringing back the Larry O'Brien Trophy to Cleveland for the first time since 2016.
They entered Monday night's Game 4 matchup against the Miami Heat with a dominant 3-0 series lead. Not only would the Cavaliers advance, they blew the doors off the Heat, winning by 55 points (138-83).
In the series-clinching game, the Cavaliers made 22 3-pointers, bringing their series total to 77 made 3-pointers. This is tied for the most in a four-game playoff series in NBA history.
The NBA took to their official X account to make the historic announcement immediately following the game's final buzzer.
The 2016 Cavaliers previously held sole possession of this record. Led by the trio of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love, the 2016 Cavaliers made 77 3-pointers in their Eastern Conference Semifinals matchup with the Atlanta Hawks.
The Cavaliers would go on to win the NBA championship that year, their first in franchise history. They made 258 total 3-pointers during the playoffs that season.

This season's Cavaliers are an explosive offensive unit. They led the Eastern Conference in points per game (121.9) during the regular season, finishing with the conference's best record (64-18).
Donovan Mitchell led the team, making 16 3-pointers during the series against the Heat.
After sweeping the No. 8 seed, Miami Heat, the No. 1 seed, Cavaliers will now await the winner of the Milwaukee Bucks vs. Indiana Pacers series. The Pacers currently lead that first-round matchup 3-1.
