NBA G League Sends Strong Message to Bronny James on Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

At 20 years old, Bronny James, son of NBA star LeBron James, turned heads by putting up 21.9 points, 5.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game across 11 appearances last season in the NBA G League.

In winning efforts, he shot an impressive 51% from the field, 45% from 3-point range and 88% from the free-throw line playing for the South Bay Lakers.

James's G League numbers represent a significant uptick from his NBA production, where he split time between Los Angeles and South Bay.

In 27 NBA games, he averaged just 2.3 points, 0.8 assists and 0.7 rebounds in 7.6 minutes per appearance.

In a post shared on Monday, the NBA G League highlighted James’s breakout rookie campaign with the South Bay Lakers.

James honed his craft at Sierra Canyon School in California, where he earned McDonald’s All-American honors in 2023 and was a four-star recruit out of high school.

Following a medical scare (a cardiac arrest suffered in July 2023), James rebounded to play one season at USC before declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft.

On June 27, 2024, the Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny with the 55th overall pick, reuniting him with his father and marking the first father-son duo ever to suit up in the NBA simultaneously.

After signing his rookie contract on July 3, he appeared in the Lakers’ Summer League and preseason before making his official NBA debut on October 22, 2024, logging three minutes and grabbing a rebound in a 110-103 win at Minnesota.
