Nashville SC has hit the home stretch of its season.

Nashville (15-9-5, 50 points) faces FC Cincinnati (16-9-4, 52 points) in a crucial MLS match at TQL Stadium on Sept. 13. Cincinnati is second in the Eastern Conference while Nashville is fourth, and both are fighting to stay in the race for the Supporters' Shield as well as home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Cincinnati won the last game these teams played, a 2-1 victory at Geodis Park on March 30 after Kevin Denkey scored a late penalty kick goal.

Nashville and Cincinnati both struggled in August, losing three of four games they played prior to the September international break. However, both have an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot. Nashville needs to beat Cincinnati and hope for the New York Red Bulls to tie or lose to the Portland Timbers, while Cincinnati will clinch with a win, a Red Bulls loss or a tie with NSC and a tie between the Red Bulls and Timbers.
