The Nashville Predators have selected defenseman Cameron Reid with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft on June 27.
The Predators traded their picks No. 23 and No. 67 to the Ottawa Senators to move up to No. 21 and get Reid.
Reid, 18, had a breakout campaign last year with the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), scoring 14 goals and 40 assists in 67 games as a two-way defenseman. The 6-foot, 174-pound, left-handed defenseman is a high-end skater with puck-carrying skills that should translate to the NHL level.
His standout attributes are his skating ability and offensive instincts. Most scouts predict he'll develop into a play-driving offensive defensemen with shades of Colorado Avalanche's Devon Toews.
An Aylmer, Ontario native, Reid is the second pick by the Predators in the 2025 draft, who selected center Brady Martin with the No. 5 overall pick. They also select at No. 26 overall.

"(Reid) can defend, move the puck, create offense," one scout writing for Elite Prospects stated. "I’m not saying he’s (Winnipeg Jets') Josh Morrissey, but there’s a little bit there. I think he goes between 12 and 16, and if he doesn’t, he’s going to be one of those guys – like (Detroit Red Wings') Axel Sandin Pellikka – where you look back in a few years and say he should’ve gone higher."
Reid, who will likely head back to the OHL for his third season in junior hockey, joins Tanner Molendyk and Andrew Gibson as Nashville's top defensive prospects.
