Mahendra Singh Dhoni was officially inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in a ceremony held in London.
The former Indian captain became the 11th cricketer from India to join the Hall of Fame, an honor that places him alongside the likes of Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, and Rahul Dravid.
“It is an honor to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognizes the contributions of cricketers across generations and the globe,” Dhoni said. “To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever.”
Known for his calm under pressure and tactical brilliance, Dhoni is the only captain in cricket history to have led a team to victory in all three ICC white-ball tournaments. His captaincy tenure saw India win the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013. In Test cricket, he guided India to the top of the ICC rankings for the first time in 2009.
In franchise cricket, Dhoni transformed Chennai Super Kings into a powerhouse, taking them to 10 IPL finals in 14 seasons and clinching five titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023.
Dhoni holds the world record for most stumpings (195) and was involved in a total of 829 dismissals across formats. With the bat, he amassed 10,773 runs in 350 ODIs, including 10 centuries and 73 half-centuries, maintaining an impressive average of 50.57.
