Looks like a bunch of analytics mumbo jumbo and obviously not the end all be all.

It sounds like a pretty good explanation of why the D-backs are a game or so off the the Division lead, despite the massive amount of injuries to its hitters and pitching staff and inconsistent hitting from its lineup.

DBack Jon called it "a big part", not an "end all and be all".

I am curious why you would call it "mumbo jumbo" and discount it as a factor without explaining why.

Defensive runs saved may not be the most glamorous part of baseball, but everything that goes on in the game is a part of the game.

It was just sarcasm. I was making fun of a particular stance some on here choose to take when it suits them personally.

And only Ahmed is a regular starter. Dyson was a pinch-runner and defensive specialist, although he did get starts due to injuries before he was injured. And Dyson catches two out of every five games.

Bill James Online | Mark Simon: If the Dimaondbacks continue on their pace, they will finish with the most Defensive Runs Saved since it started being calculated in 2003. That’s pretty unbelievable to think about, and it’s due to, unsurprisingly, being good everywhere. Every position except third base has at least 3+ DRS, and they lead the league at catcher, pitcher, and right field. They’ve also added the shift to good effect, as they lead the league with 28 Shift Runs Saved.
