STORY: :: Millions begin to cast their ballots for the next president as polls open across the United States:: Manchester, New Hampshire:: November 5, 2024:: Springfield, Ohio Long lines formed at the polls in Manchester, New Hampshire on Tuesday (November 5) as voting began in the U.S. presidential election.Most New Hampshire voting locations opened at 0600 Eastern (1100gmt) and are expected to close at 2000 Eastern (0100 gmt).New Hampshire Secretary of State David Scanlan has told local media that he expects a record voter turnout, predicting that some 824,000 votes will be cast in New Hampshire.Meanwhile in Springfield, Ohio voters filed into a small polling station, which uses voting machines that are locked and sealed.At the end of the night two election officials, one Democrat, one Republican, close the polls, remove the ballots from the machines and the memory stick and then ride back together to the County Board of Elections office, one of the County directors, Brian Sleeth, explained to WYSO radio before election day adding that "voting in Ohio is safe, secure".The race between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris still remains neck and neck in each of the seven states likely to determine the winner: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.No matter who wins the White House, history will be made.
