New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel praised Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba when meeting with media members.
The First-Team All-Pro wideout was spectacular in the Seahawks' NFC Championship win over the Los Angeles Rams, racking up 10 receptions for 153 yards and one touchdown. It's nothing new from what he's been doing all season long. He has totaled 119 receptions for 1,793 yards and 10 touchdowns in his third NFL season.
“Sudden, savvy, competitive. Really good play strength for his stature. ...He’s really good at contested catches. Good route craft and understanding in zone and man. Great body control," Vrabel said on Smith-Njigba.
The wide receiver is a player the Patriots' defense will have to account for in Sunday's matchup.
One way they likely hope to do that is by sticking their star cornerback, Christian Gonzalez, on Smith-Njigba in the game. It's hard to envision anyone stopping Smith-Njigba completely, but it would be a major win for the Patriots if Gonzalez can at least slow him down.
That would put even more pressure on Seattle's offense, most notably quarterback Sam Darnold, to find other ways to make plays in the game.
