The Pittsburgh Steelers could see their season come to an end on Sunday night. If they were to fall to the Baltimore Ravens, they would finish in second place in the AFC North and out of a playoff spot. And if that were to be the end result, many believe that the Steelers and head coach Mike Tomlin could part ways. Whether that be via trade, firing, or Tomlin stepping away from coaching altogether, there are many possibilities that give this Week 18 matchup massive ramifications for the longest tenured head coach in all of major American sports.

And while Tomlin and the Steelers want to be playing playoff football, Peter Schrager of ESPN says that if Tomlin did want to pursue a career in TV, every network would be lining up to hire him.

“Having worked at Fox, having worked at NFL Network, and now here at ESPN, there’s a chair waiting … for Mike Tomlin to make a lot of money talking football if he so wishes,” Schrager said on First Take via Awful Announcing.

We have seen plenty of coaches go the TV route after or in between coaching jobs. Sean Payton worked at Fox after resigning as the New Orleans Saints head coach, and ultimately took the head coaching job with the Denver Broncos. If Tomlin was considering a break, but still wanted to remain around football and pursue an eventual return to coaching, we could see him on our TV screens as a stop-gap.
