The Miami Dolphins and Jalen Ramsey are going to explore a trade, according to NFL Network.

And we thought the Tyreek Hill trade was going to be big news.

Or maybe the Dolphins can't trade Hill?

What is Ramsey's value? What is Hill's value?

What's going on out there?

There is a lot to unpack and we've barely had time to digest breakfast, but I'm here to give you 10 rapid thoughts.

I'm trying to sort through all this so here are 10 things I think:

  1. I think a decision to trade for future Hall of Famers Jalen Ramsey and Tyreek Hill, while letting home-grown trench brawlers Robert Hunt and Christian Wilkins walk has been a disaster.
  2. I think Jalen Ramsey often seems unhappy and distant. We know he was unhappy in Jacksonville and Los Angeles. We can't say for sure if he'll ever be happy. Ramsey is a good player but this is not really a potential leadership loss.
  3. I think the Dolphins' rebuild under general manager Chris Grier is officially a fail. How angry is owner Stephen Ross? Hard to say. But the intentional tear down of 2019 - six seasons ago! - has been a grand fail with zero playoff wins.
  4. I think the Dolphins are in trouble at cornerback, assuming Ramsey is gone. In fact, they're in trouble in the secondary, considering the departure of safety Jevon Holland, too. Grier likes to say you can never have enough cornerbacks. Well, they don't have enough cornerbacks.
  5. I think the Dolphins are most likely to draft cornerback Will Johnson of Michigan or Jahdae Barron of Texas in the first round now. As badly as the Dolphins need a guard and defensive tackle, Grier almost has no choice but to use the No. 13 pick on one of those two players. It would seem a miracle now if Grier could obtain a second-rounder for Ramsey to use on a cornerback or offensive or defensive lineman.
  6. I think the Dolphins may be entering another rebuild cycle. And I feel sorry for the fan base. Twenty five years without a single playoff win. There was a bold strategy to tear it all down and that bold strategy did not work. That Grier has been here, in some capacity, for the entire streak cannot be overlooked here.
  7. I think the Chiefs and Rams knew what they were doing when they moved on from Tyreek Hill and Jalen Ramsey. Are they very talented players? Yes. But each program has found a way to win without them. It seems evident both franchises weighed off-field considerations in their thought processes.
  8. I think it probably pains Mike McDaniel to know that he can't connect with each player in the same way. McDaniel is open and caring and trusting and all the stuff players say they want in things like NFLPA polls. But do they ever take advantage of those things? Some guys probably have. Some have certainly let him down.
  9. I think the fact that Miami did not spend a lot this offseason and did not restructure Tua Tagovailoa's contract to allow for more spending tells us a few things. Firstly, they are justifiably concerned about Tua's ability to stay healthy long-term. But also, Miami realizes 2025 may need to be a reset season.
  10. I think we are too close to the season for the Miami Dolphins to be starting at needs at: CB, CB, G, DT, DE and DE and perhaps WR and S. Some oddsmakers had the Dolphins with an early over/under line of 8.5 wins. If Miami trades Ramsey and Hill, that could drop Miami's over/under to about 7. If the Dolphins go 7-11 in 2025, do Grier and McDaniel get fired? Or will Ross allow for a reset, privately citing a need for culture change and patience? Ugh.
