The New York Mets are slumping, as they haven't scored more than three runs in their last seven games. They've also scored three total in their last three contests after their 2-0 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.

The Mets (29-20) had just four hits in the game, spoiling starting pitcher Clay Holmes' (5-3, 3.13 ERA) effort. The former New York Yankee allowed two runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts in six innings, and reliever Max Kranick (3-1, 3.72 ERA) followed up with two scoreless frames.

New York is now 4-6 in its last 10 games and is one game behind the Philadelphia Phillies for first place in the NL East, pending the latter team's result against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.

"Welcome to the ups and downs of a baseball season," he wrote on X. "This too will pass. LGM."

Cohen bought an eight percent stake in the club in 2012 and took full control in 2020.

In Tuesday's loss, the Mets failed to take advantage of Red Sox (25-25) starting pitcher Walker Buehler's ejection in the third inning. Buehler and relievers Brennan Bernardino, Garrett Whitlock, Justin Wilson, Greg Weissert, Justin Slater, and Aroldis Chapman combined for the shutout.

The Mets have now lost two straight series heading into their game against Boston on Wednesday. After that, they'll host the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox, and Rockies (8-39) before facing the Dodgers (29-19) and Rockies on the road.
