The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft ended with Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders still remaining on the board.
Several quarterback-needy teams passed on him, including the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Meanwhile, the Browns have the first pick of the second round, so it could be a short wait for Sanders in Day 2 of the draft, although many expected him to go within the first 32 selections.
Nonetheless, it was a surprising fall for Sanders, and each QB-needy team that passed on him on Thursday night created even more doubt about him going in the first round.

But if you watched the NFL Draft, it sure seemed like he got selected. ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. constantly talked about Sanders all night.
In turn, fans had lots of feelings about Kiper's antics and he became the subject of some heavy backlash.
"Cam Ward has been ignored for weeks, and now that he's about to be drafted, Mel Kiper is talking about Shedeur Sanders???" Pro Football Talk posted on X.
"Mel Kiper using the entirety of Cam Ward's draft spot to talk about Shedeur Sanders is certainly a choice," another fan wrote.
"The only person on earth who loves Shedeur Sanders more than Deion Sanders is Mel Kiper and even that is up for debate," another stated.
"I’m having a hard time deciding whose currently bad NFL draft night I’m enjoying more… Shedeur Sanders, or Mel Kiper Jr," wrote another.
Warren Sharp also posted a lengthy clip of Kiper's NFL Draft night reel.
"In case you missed it: Mel Kiper really likes Shedeur Sanders," another said.
"If you find someone that loves you the way Mel Kiper loves Shedeur Sanders in this draft, you’ve won the game of life," wrote another.
"*Jaxon Dart gets drafted 1st round fulfilling a childhood dream* Mel Kiper: *only talks about Shedeur Sanders*," another pointed out.
Kiper's final Big Board had Sanders at No. 5 overall, so it's quite the fall for the Colorado signal-caller. Still, Kiper pounding the table over and over again and talking nonstop about Sanders did not sit well with fans on Thursday night.

Mel Kiper was angry last night
instead of celebrating 32 kids seeing their dreams fulfilled… he tried to turn the whole production into a show about Shedeur Sanders not getting selected
