LAFAYETTE ― McCutcheon doubles tennis partners Madalyn Cheesman and Harrison high jumper Jacob Schwartz were voted the Journal & Courier Athletes of the Week.
The duo of Cheesman and Goodrick received the most votes among candidates with 23,302 votes and Schwartz earned the most male votes with 12,034 votes and has earned the recognition for the second consecutive week.

Goodrick and Cheeseman won the IHSAA doubles individual championship last Wednesday in West Lafayette. Here's an insiders perspective on how Cheesman and Goodrick went from beginners to expert level tennis players.
Schwartz was forced to switch jumping legs after battling an hamstring injury this season. The switch not only saved his season, but in the process allowed Schwartz to soar to new heights at the IHSAA boys regional track and field championships last Thursday. Schwartz jumped 22 feet and eight inches, allowing him to compete at the IHSAA state track and field meet at North Central High School.
