Mavericks Make Exciting Cooper Flagg Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

After securing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft despite having just a 1.8% chance of doing so, the Dallas Mavericks went with the clear choice.

Unsurprisingly to anyone who had been following college basketball and the pre-draft process, the Mavericks selected Duke Blue Devils forward Cooper Flagg.

Regarded for his ability to make plays on both offense and defense, the Naismith Men's Player of the Year is frequently tabbed as the next great American prospect. In addition to his high ceiling as a player, one could argue that no other No. 1 pick has ever been selected to a team as talented as Dallas.

The Mavs, when everyone is fully healthy, will have Flagg running a lineup with future Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame members Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson and Anthony Davis.

With fans eagerly awaiting Flagg's NBA Summer League debut in the coming days, Dallas took to social media on Wednesday to announce that the No. 1 pick has officially put pen to paper.

According to Spotrac, since Flagg was drafted No. 1 overall, his rookie contract is a four-year deal worth over $62 million. Meaning, he will earn over $15 million per year throughout his first four seasons.

While he reportedly made more at Duke, the even bigger bucks will roll around when he is eligible to sign a supermax extension in 2029.

As confirmed by Spotrac, Flagg's first supermax extension will be worth $359 million, while his second will come in at an astounding $509 million. This means that Flagg is on track to be a billionaire even without factoring in the countless endorsement deals he will have along the way.

As for his aforementioned NBA Summer League debut, that will occur on July 10 against Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
