This. Dude has a 60% catch ratio (50 targets / 24 catches), up slightly from 53% his rookie year.

Also, MH senior had 70 and 59 catches in Manning's first 2 seasons. His yards per target were 7.3 or less in each of his 1st 3 years. Juniors was 7.6 as a rookie and 9.9 this year. It wasn't until Manning's 3rd seasons and seniors 4th season that they really clicked and went off. So, IMO, while Petzing's offense has been poop, senior wasn't exactly crushing the competition his first 3 seasons.

Pops really needs to put things in a more like for like perspective.
I'd be upset too if I didn't get to play with one of the best QB's of all time. MHJ needs to do better at getting open and, you know, actually catching the ball.

How do you have a passing offense when the QB cant be trusted to make good decisions? Nobody is stopping him from throwing downfield. His most prolific down the field successes were jump balls to Hopkins. Last year Murray could not figure how to get his TE which is one of NFL's best TDs in the red zone. When asked about getting Harrison more targets Murray said not his responsibility. How do you hold a HC or GM responsible when they have not had a QB who stands tall in the pocket and creates a passing game that produces more than 200 yards a game? It is a miracle the offense has been as successful as it has been in Gannon's tenure. This year the stable of running backs has been decimated. No running game and no QB how could Gannon succeed? This team should be winless. Murray was Mr. Three and out in second half of both wins.

Did someone explain to him that Peyton Manning > Kyler Murray?
Nobody needs to explain that to him, and I am pretty sure he knows NFL offense better than you and almost all fans, and he thinks ours sucks - which also matches my opinion.

There is no excuse to not target Marv more than 4 or 5 times in a game. Virtually every No 1 receiver in the league gets more targets.

Jacoby's advanced stats in the past two games were outstanding. That is not debatable that is a fact. Either Jacoby is secretly good or Petzing's scheme was putting him in really favorable looks. There's absolutely no way Jacoby can keep this up regardless.
Which also coincides with Gannon finally getting it that conservative offensive game plans are the ticket to lose games.

Just another reminder that Josh Weinfuss is a dreadful writer. You have to sort through so much dross to get to whatever this is supposed to be about.

Just think of all the people Murray has gotten fired because he cant do what is required of an NFL QB? That podcaster Venable in PHX Sports recently relished how Murray might outlast two coaching staffs and GMs Venable enjoying the destruction of peoples lives. Murray is like typhoid Mary. He just carries the fatal disease. Bidwill wont fire Gannon. Bidwill is already paying two HCs. He wont pay three. I dont see Bidwill paying two QBs either which would result from a trade where Cardinals have to continue to pay him.

People seem to think this is some comment on the scheme. It's the same scheme as half the league, give or take.

This is a comment on offensive performance. On receivers running open and being missed, on passes averaging less than 6 yards per attempt, on QBs bugging out before receivers can hit their break.

He can get YAC on crossing routes and has shown so, but there seems to be a reluctance to have him running across the middle on a regular basis. They are intent on making him a sideline deep threat, but he could really excell being moved around more, IMO.

To be fair the going across the middle stuff has not worked. The INT where he dropped the ball, then the concussion and he had one in the last game where he alligator armed one over the middle

I think the concussions have him nervous, can't fault him but I think it's a thing

Again but is that scheme or KYLER? MHJ goes out on every play just like every other player?

Regardless, it's really been the best way to get him open and him to get YAC.

I don't think our offense is designed to take advantage of matchups. It's not designed to get certain players the ball. It come across as an offense that takes what you give it. TEs are tough to gameplan against so generally, what the other team gives us is Trey (unintentionally). To that point though, we have one of the best pass catching TEs in the NFL and other than putting him in the backfield at times, do they do anything interesting with him? Not really. You would think you would see him line up out wide more often. See what the defense would do with him outside as the only receiver to that side. Would they play him man? Vs a CB/S/LB? Would a S slide over? There are a lot of interesting things on the table with McBride and the Cardinals seem to be happy with being basic.
This offense is a lot like what I saw on sandlots. You pick a receiver, draw the route in the dirt. You either throw to him or run with it.

All this talk about how bad our offense is makes me want to go bowling instead of watching the game tonight. Stars are aligning for Dallas's defense to have their best game in the last two years! Oh brother, I can't wait!

Where to start? HairZach is right about check downs. When’s the last time you saw Murray take a hit to complete a throw. Murray has little concept of how to use a pocket (I know several are poorly setup). He never steps up and he hoesn’t slide sideways to evade a rusher or open a throwing lane. When he runs he often doesn’t keep his eyes downfield so he only pulls up to throw when it’s a called rollout. As to YAC, most YAC comes when a receiver is hit in stride. Murray is weak at ball placement. Receivers continually have to break stride to make a catch. I’m not saying MHJ has been great, but he has to deal with a weak QB. He’s made too many drops, but he will get better. I’m not convinced Murray will. BTW I’m surprised Senior waited so long to say this.
