I just ordered Season 1 for a couple of reasons:

1. I'm never home at 1:00 in the afternoon to catch the USA reruns
2. Someone made a reference (based on my Thomas avatar) to Magnum's gig on Robin Masters' estate...I wanted to make an obscure reference as to how he got the gig but I realized I don't know how he got that cush job
3. It's one of the best shows ever!

Robin Masters, or the guy Higgins hired to play Robin Masters, met Magnum and offered him the use of his guest house for as long as he wanted. Magnum naturally wanted it for longer than Kato wanted OJ's couch.
I thought he'd never met Magnum in person?

Also, a little bit of trivia: How much did Magnum charge for his services?

A:
$200 a day plus expenses.

Well there is the mystery. Magnum's theory that Higgins actually was Robin Masters but felt that the cheap romance novels were "below" him so he hired someone to go about playing as Masters and acting like a playboy. Masters was actually on the show a couple of times but they never showed his face.

Wasn't the role of Robin Masters played by Paul Williams?

I remember seeing a episode or two when I was a kid. I might have to add this to the BB Q.

I loved Magnum's love interest that, I think, was from Viet Nam. Sort of remember what she looked like. Forgot story line.

I think she was exotic looking. Maybe her dad was a (french) GI.

Well, I was 4 when it premiered in 1980. I had no idea it for 8 seasons.

Didn't Magnum have a series finale that ended up not being the end of the series?

It's been a while...
