This also means 77 is the 10th highest player in the game on our team. Only Dolphins have a player in their top 10 #7 lower.

Fun spin! What records did he set?

https://nflcommunications.com/Docum...son Recap/NFL Records and Milestones 2019.pdf

The longest streak of pass attempts without an INT is the only rookie record Kyler broke this season.

Kyler is right where his PFF ranking says he should be.

Yeah this is terrible.

Truthfully Byron Murphy was horrible by the end of the year - like the worst guy getting any playing time in our secondary.

Kyler should at least be an 82

Why the attitude and snark?

Murray set the following team rookie records:

Wins
Passing yards
Touchdown passes
Passing attempts
Pass completions
Completion percentage.
300 yard games
Games Started
First QB with 3000 passing and 500 yards rushing

Why should Madden care about team rookie records?

Agreed with K9 that this is a ton of spin. Murray was hovering around 15th or worse last year.

15th in passing yardage, 15th in QBR, 15th in completion %, 21st in passing TDs, 19th in QB/Passer Rating...

You know they can adjust these through the season, right? Kyler had some good moments, but nothing that puts him above most of the guys you listed besides maybe Derek Carr and Joe Burrow.

That is only the rankings released so far.

Burrow was in the Rookie Rankings but most teams 10th best player is 83.

So Garrapolo might be an 81. Point is Murray could be like 25

But all of those passing stats don't take into account rushing but Madden does. Murray was given a 91 speed.

For him to have that high of speed but only 77 he basically has to be incredibly inaccurate (he wasnt), have poor arm strength (he doesn't), or be a moron pick machine (nope)

The entire ranking seems like doubling down on the 73 he was rated last year despite being the #1 pick, which is routinely between 76-80

That's quite surprising. A 77 for the rookie of the year last year. Okay. Sure.

Gotcha. Well, we were a 5-11 team last year. I can agree Byron Murphy has no business being ahead of Kyler, and same with Christian Kirk, but it's only because their ratings should be lower, not his higher.

He left a lot out on the field. I'd push him to an 80 at the most, honestly.

We saw him do some amazing things, but there's also a lot of issues out there. Maybe they're incorrectly not blaming the pressure he was under or the lack of talent from his WRs, but I struggle to find any outrage in this rating. If he ends up between 15-20, I'll say "well that makes sense."

Yeah I am definitely more annoyed that Murray is the 10th best player on our team than his overall QB rating. That's just dumb

Also this puts Hicks at 76 tops. That's dumb

I guess I will have to totally overhaul the ratings of the team in single player mode for the 30th consecutive year

We were a 5 win team last year that only beat the Little Sisters of the Poor last season. How good would you like us to be?

I think he was a 78 last year. I agree he should have gone up a point or 2 if anything.

I think you are missing the point. The point is that some individual stats don't seem to be right, not overall team ranking.

You know what I meant. Are you trying to be obstinate?

I, mean, what does "right" mean? Chris is upset that Jordan Hicks might be traded as a C+ player. According to the new FO Almanac, he ranked 35th in run stop %, 63rd in rushing yards allowed, 60th in pass success rate. Sounds like a C+ Player to me.

Kyler Murray had a negative passing DVOA for the season. He's gonna rank in the middle among his peers.

Back in the Before Times, I used Madden ratings as a shorthand for overall value and perception nationally. Now there are better metrics (both that have come into being and that I discovered).

I guess I never should've jumped in this thread; I don't really care about Madden ratings anymore, especially when they update them throughout the year.

But just to add some value, and because I'm flipped to this page in the new almanac:

40% of Arizona's sacks were what we might call "non-pressure sacks," those marked "coverage sack," "failed scramble" or "self sack." In particular, the Cardinals had 15 failed scramble sacks, when no other offense had more than 10.

Madden ratings seem to only change for a small amount of players. I remember a year with kurt warner where we were a very good team and still rated like 78 throughout the year. every roster update I would get excited that maybe I could play quality games online with the cardinals and it never really happened.
