So if there is a lockout is there still a draft? So if the whole year was lost would we have two drafts between now and the next season? Would we have the #1 in both drafts?

The draft will still be conducted after this season. I've heard rumors that is 2011 is cancelled due to the CBA, the 2012 draft could be done much like hockey did a few years back...luck of the draw.

If there’s a lockout, will there still be a draft next spring?

Yes, but it won’t be business as usual for the teams or for the players they select. With no CBA in place, teams won’t be able to sign players, and those post-draft minicamps will be non-existent. Also, in the absence of a CBA, the league’s ability to generate revenues from the new crop of big-name draftees will be limited. In other words, if you want to purchase one of those sweet new Jake Locker jerseys in the aftermath of his being drafted, you’ll have to buy one without his name on the back of it or wait until a new CBA is signed.

so theoretically we could have 2 top 3 picks before the next season.

Man that would be sweet!

i expect scrubs to start next year, The Owners initiated this after the largest team value growth in history. The owners opted out and have started negotiations at 40% to players. The Owners war chest are loaded, Jerry Jones has his first real risk as an NFL owner with that new Cowboy stadium. Good for him the Bidwills have survied this for almost 80 years now. just not recently.

The players association is going down hard, if they accept an Equal 50/50 partnership across the board and not squabble of .13 of 1% it would set the tone for an uninterupted future of the NFL. but that aint the way any union is spirited. all unions are addicted to more. and never happy. like the media.
