Las Vegas Aces Suffer Major Loss on Wednesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
After getting blown out by the Golden State Valkyries in their previous game, A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces looked to get back on track.
On Wednesday, Wilson and the Aces fell to the Los Angeles Sparks 97-89 at Michelob ULTRA Arena, welcoming back two-time WNBA champion Kelsey Plum, who departed for LA in the offseason.
With roughly 5:07 remaining in the third quarter, Sparks forward Dearica Hamby was going up for a layup. However, Wilson was standing right there to block her shot.
As Wilson swatted the ball away, Hamby's arm accidentally came down on the three-time MVP's face. Wilson stayed in for a few more minutes before Kiah Stokes took her spot with 1:17 remaining in the third.

Wilson was ruled out for the remainder of the game after sustaining a head injury, per ESPN's Alexa Philippou. Her absence allowed the Sparks to outscore their opponent by two points in the final quarter and ultimately secure the win.
"A’ja Wilson was ruled out of the remainder of the Aces' game tonight after exiting with a head injury with 1:17 left in the third quarter," Philippou wrote on X. "Las Vegas ultimately fell to the Sparks, 97-89, their second consecutive loss."
Wilson wasn't much of a scoring factor for Las Vegas in the first three quarters, finishing the game with 13 points on 2-of-12 shooting. She did, however, fill the box score with eight rebounds, five assists, four blocks and two steals. Jackie Young led the way for the Aces with 34 points.
Up next for the Aces (4-4), a battle with Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings on Friday at 10:00 p.m. ET. At the time of this article, it is unclear if Wilson will be available.
