With the 2025 NBA Draft now in the rearview mirror, everyone is awaiting the official free agency period, which begins next Monday, June 30, at 3 p.m. Pacific time. Shortly after that, summer league play will begin.
For the Los Angeles Lakers, Bronny James and Quincy Olivari are expected to participate in summer league play. Presumably, Adou Thiero, whose draft rights were traded to the Lakers on Thursday, will likely play, even though he sustained a knee injury in February.
The team will begin by playing three games in the California Classic starting on Saturday, July 5. Then, on July 10, the main summer league in Las Vegas will commence.
The opening game of the main summer league will pit the Lakers against the Dallas Mavericks and Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 pick in this year's draft.
Flagg wowed many people over the last several months as a freshman at Duke University. The 6-foot-9 do-everything forward is being predicted by many to become a legitimate star at the next level.
Lakers fans will get a chance to see him play, as well as see how much James has improved and whether Olivari could have a shot at becoming a regular rotation player.
