Lakers Trade Proposal Reunites Luka Doncic With Former Mavericks Star originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Los Angeles Lakers struck gold when they acquired Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks at the trade deadline. However, the next step for them is to get a good big man to complement him and LeBron James.
The Minnesota Timberwolves constantly picked on the Lakers' lack of frontcourt depth, which played a huge factor in the first round gentleman's sweep. No matter what, the Lakers cannot ignore this problem and must address it this offseason.
One way they could do this is by acquiring one of Doncic's former teammates, Kristaps Porzingis. That might be problematic because of the unsuccessful history when Doncic and Porzingis played together in Dallas, plus it would require making a trade with the Boston Celtics.

However, the Celtics are trying to save money this offseason, and the Lakers could help them with that. MassLive's Brian Robb proposed a trade in which both teams would get what they want. He outlined the following deal:
Lakers get: Porzingis
Celtics get: Gabe Vincent, Maxi Kleber, Shake Milton
Robb explained why Boston would do it, but acknowledged the issues from the Lakers' side, besides Doncic's and Porzingis' bad history with each other.
'The Lakers may be looking for someone more durable in the center spot at this price tag," Robb wrote. "Boston is simply turning Porzingis’ salary into cheaper more easily movable options in this type of deal with Vincent and Kleber on expiring deals. If the Lakers are looking for a defensive-minded center, they probably search elsewhere."
Porzingis is also coming off a pretty lackluster postseason performance. While dealing with a mysterious illness, he averaged 7.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks while shooting 31.6% from the field and 15.4% from three.
There are plenty of red flags, but on paper, he would be what the Lakers need.
