Lady Vols basketball legend Candace Parker is going on a tour to promote her new book "The Can-Do Mindset."
Two of Parker's stops are within driving distance of Knoxville. The three-time WNBA champion will be in Nashville on June 4 and Atlanta on June 5.
The tour begins in her hometown of Naperville, Illinois, on May 31 and concludes in Los Angeles, where she spent most of her WNBA career. The LA Sparks are set to retire Parker's No. 3 jersey on June 29.
Parker announced her book on Jan. 27, and it will officially be on sale June 3. The title "The Can-Do Mindset" was inspired by her childhood nickname.
"Can-Do became my nickname from an early age, and it’s become a mindset that’s served me through so many life phases, anchoring me through choppy waters," Parker wrote on Instagram. "In this book, I share stories from my own life on and off the court that made me who I am. I hope these stories will inspire you to break the boundaries around you and create your own success. With the Can-Do mindset, you will succeed in the game of life."
Her book is just one of her many post-retirement endeavors. Parker, who retired last April, is the president of Adidas women's basketball and also owns a production company named Baby Hair Productions.
Parker retired as one of the greatest basketball players ever. She played 16 seasons in the WNBA and is a three-time WNBA champion and a two-time WNBA MVP.
Parker, who is 6-foot-4, was renowned for her skillset as a forward and her ability to play any position – even point guard. She played for Pat Summitt at Tennessee from 2004-08 and won back-to-back NCAA championships in 2007-08.
