You're seriously arguing that the Jags would trade for Kyler instead of Lawrence?

I 100% am. They are ready to move on and have cap hits of nearly $80 million in back to back years coming up. They cannot release him for 3 more years, but can trade him with minimal damage on June 1st. When they fade down the stretch, and they will, they will look to move on after this season. The idea of giving both him and Kyler fresh starts has popped up on the socials. Kyler's short term contract is much more team friendly.

As for the players, they have had a very similar career arc for #1 picks. Both got second contracts they should have gotten.

Jags are 4-1 and on track for the playoffs, why would they be moving key pieces? Lawrence hasn't been great, although he has spells, but he's also better than Kyler and winning.

Better? They are the same player. You are hilarious! And the Jags are not winning because of Trevor. FFS, Trevor fell down twice trying to end the game and Chris Jones just kept waiving to him encouraging him to keep going!

I think he's talking about this year, right now, not career stats. At least that's my thinking. It's more about some just want to see a more prototypical QB heading the team.

I provided this years stats. They are almost identical. Both are underperforming.

You know what Trevor didn’t do there? GIVE UP like Kyler constantly does, curling up in the fetal position before even getting touched. He also then broke a tackle once he got back up rather than Kyler going down every time someone breathes on him.

Honestly, using that play to criticize Trevor vis a vi Kyler is really bizarre. That’s a guy giving everything and gutting out a HUGE W and game winning drive to get his team to 4-1.

I've watched this so many times that I finally decided to post it.

Here are Kyler's rookie highlights.

It is a little long, but a great watch.

In one sentence, what is your immediate reaction to this?

We'll see which team wants to keep their QB after this season.

Playing with confidence, and on time. Haven't seen that in a while.

Well that and his release is much faster.

I remember Pete Prisco, who was not a Murray fan at all, said he had one of the quickest release he's seen since Dan Marino. I think it was during training camp coverage that year.

He's added weight and has a more football frame now. However, this is where working with a Tom House or QB specialists might have done things to maintain that quick release.

That sounds about right.

If he misses this week, I literally can not imagine them firing him against the packers before the Bye. This season is effectively over

Here is Kyler giving up on a play. Didn't see any Raiders giving up and waiving him in.

Bunch of thoughts on that.

First yes he was not as thick and the release is quicker.

Second, he threw the deep ball better but he also actually had a deep threat in Kirk.

Third, been saying this for awhile, if you look most of those throws are out of the shotgun but the key IMO is the drop is deeper. The Cards even under Kliff but especially under Petzing went to this shorter drop, I guess they are calling that WCO. The problem is Kyler Murray is short and the closer he is to the LOS the harder it is for him to see and to throw over the DL. You watch him then and he's sitting in the pocket firing the ball downfield. Now he had a real bad habit as a rookie of running backwards when he had pressure but he's IMO MUCH better with a deeper drop.

So if the offense you want to run involves short drops, he SHOULD not be your QB. If he is your QB, your offense should not be based on short drops

Man, Chris, you should just let the Never-Murray's turn this thread into a constant negative-Murray diatribe.

It's kind of entertaining, in a macabre sort of way, to watch them cavorting around and doing things to each other as they celebrate Murry's demise. :)

I say this with all honesty. I'd rather just Murray be good. Truly, nothing would make me happier.

I could even settle for consistently average. A 7.2 YPA, 210 AYG, 90 passer rating etc etc.

But we don't have that, so it is what it is. People aren't slagging him off for kicks. He's been bad.
