Kyler has cut all ties with the Cards and doesn't want to play here anymore. The Cards know that and most likely won't be able to trade him because of his contract and will release him. Additionally the fans would not welcome him back. He would have a tough time with the media and the locker room would be split. Bottom line IMO you can't go back to having him the face of the organization.

More like he was benched and refused to be a backup.

We shouldn't pay another team to take Kyler (period).

If we can't get the trade we want, then Kyler becomes the bridge QB for the new HC in 2026.

2026 - Dead cap is $54M
2027 - Dead cal is $7M

We can live with this for one more year
His $19.5 million 2027 salary guarantees if he’s on the roster in mid-March. You’re paying him if he’s here or not; maybe you pay 50-80% of his salary to save the other part.

After the DHop situation I have little faith Monti can figure it out.

Agreed on the Dhop comment - maybe the QB premium changes that for Monti/us.

Kyler contract situation (from Cardinal reddit page):

Cut:
  • If cut before 03/15/2026: 22.8 (2026 base) + 3.5 (prorated signing) + 17 (roster bonus, became guaranteed 03/17/25) + 7.2 (prorated option 2026) + 7.2 (prorated option 2027) = 57.7M dead cap
  • If cut after 03/15/2026: 22.8 (2026 base) + 3.5 (prorated signing) + 17 (roster bonus, became guaranteed 03/17/25) + 7.2 (prorated option 2026) + 7.2 (prorated option 2027) + 19.5 (2027 base) = 77.2M dead cap
If traded before March 2026:
  • Cardinals eat 17.7M in dead cap
  • Acquiring team owes Kyler:
    • 22.8 (2026 base) + 17 (2026 roster bonus) + 0.85 (per-game bonus) + 1.85 (workout bonus) + 19.5 (2027 base, fully guaranteed March 2026 for acquiring team) = 1-year, $62M or they could keep him for two years, which would mean:
    • 22.8 (2026 base) + 17 (2026 roster bonus) + 0.85 (per-game bonus) + 1.85 (workout bonus) + 19.5 (2027 base) + 14.2 (2027 roster bonus) + 0.85 ( 2027 per-game bonus) + 1.8 (2027 workout bonus) = 2-years, 78.85M

The Cardinals could certainly chip in $30M to make it more palatable for a trade partner but why would we do that without the proper trade compensation?
Again, keep Kyler as the bridge QB for 2026. He will certainly not lose 14 games and will give the new HC a shot at being .500 in the first year.
We can then trade him or cut him in 2027 for the same price - $7M dead cap.

Because they get the salary cap relief of whatever the other team takes on. Kyler becomes more valuable as a trade piece the more salary the Cards opt to pay.

I don’t think he’s worth anything in trade if the Cards don’t eat salary; you’re not in a feeding frenzy for him if he wants to land somewhere else.

Kyler is a Bridge to Nowhere QB for the Cards in 2026. Hard to tell Mike Willy (in a contract year) and McBride to be patient and not worry about their stats because Michael wanted to make sure he got something for the money.

Hear! Hear! Great post TheCardsFan!

Let's not waste valuable cap space by panicking and making a desperation QB1 move that sets the franchise back even further.

For 2026 let's instead use those resources to build around the talented K1 and get a good offensive-minded coach who can maximize our production on that side of the ball.

Believe it or not kerouac9 your 2025 Arizona Cardinals actually beat a playoff team during this past, miserable season. The Carolina Panthers.

And who was the victorious Cardinal's QB1 for that game? That's right. Kyler Tiberius Murray.

At the time, the Never-Murrays phoo-phoo'ed that victory. Of course they did. They'll type anything to advance their rabid anti-K1 agenda.

But in retrospect, perhaps we should give K1 credit for leading the offense to 20 points while working with a now unemployed offensive coordinator, and a disgraced, charlatan of a WR1.

Just food for thought.

Good comedy as always. Kyler knows a team that’s gonna back into the playoffs when he sees it.

Bryce Young is better than Kyler Murray.

Let’s hope there is a GM out there in the nfl that thinks the same way as you.

Maybe you can, I can’t. I’m not watching another cardinals football game with Mr head fumble under center.

I’d rather throw darts on a new QB that actually has potential to elevate this team, even if he fails, than stick with Kyler purgatory for another season. Hell- sign me up for Brissett over Kyler even.

Addition by subtraction, my man.

I agree - I will say one more thing and then be quiet about it.

Kyler gives a first year HC the opportunity to go .500 in the first year.
A rookie (unless Mendoza) or Brisset in this division, we will be looking at 12-14 losses again.

I want to win more than I hate Kyler for one more year.

Oh you'll watch Jah Jah. We all will.

And BritCard can fire up the screen-shot machine.

Michael Wilson will fade back into obscurity.

And maybe.... juuuuuuuust maybe, we'll win some football games. :)

Not laughing at you Stout - laughing at your comments.

I get it. We are all tired of K1 but the math is the math - it really doesn't make sense to get rid of him in 2026 unless you get a return.
Why can Denver move on from a 200M contract and we can’t ?
To note , the Broncos are the AFC #1 seed after moving on.
