This quote is hilarious. To only ask for 4 hours a week means that tablet wasn't used at all outside of the facility. Johnny Manziel vibes.
I mean... why would he bother killing himself watching film when he can just see stuff in his head before it happens?

And why listen to coaches who weren't blessed with that gift?!

Maybe he has the ability to see which players in the draft will become stars before they're drafted, too? They should've just given him the GM title when they gave him the contract extension. Could've saved Keim the embarrassment of pretending to still be the GM while actually just drinking all day.

I think this is a lazy assessment.

Cardinals GM/Coach were saying Kyler is completely bought in for years. I think he simply isnt enough of an outside the box thinker to overcome being a 5'9" QB playing in a muddy pocket.

How he prepares at that height is very different than someone 6'1".

I think he needed to be special mentally and have a special team (off the field) around him to overcome his limitations and develop a consistency.
I think that’s a lazy response.

Guy had a study clause put into his contract originally and then obviously made noise when he was embarrassed about it publicly. Those don’t happen in a vacuum. When added to his early career stupid comments, absence of any report in any offseason evidencing putting in extra time in the classroom or with any QB guru and the obvious shortcomings on the field it’s not difficult to put 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 and come up with 8.

Kyler's biggest issue, IMO, is just that he is not critical of himself. Call it accountable or whatever, he does not look at his play and see himself as the issue. He does not ask what more he can do. It's why I harp on the "I just run the plays that are called" comment. That's someone who is not taking ownership like a top NFL QB has to do. Hell, like a leader has to do. It's why he has never changed his play style. It's why he said he doesn't need to endlessly grind film. It's why he preferred to not be under C. It's why he struggles to communicate. It's why he doesn't run the QB sneak.

EDIT-You can also add it's why he can't seem to throw the ball away and why he doesn't get a private QB coach.
Agree. The laziness on the intellectual side may be more of a symptom of a complete lack of self awareness and lack of accountability.

It's why none of the receivers has ever said that he messages them at all hours of the day and night with references to film so that they can talk about how they could exploit a certain defensive look.
The offensive coordinator on my 14 year old freshman football team talked about how his Frosh QB would be texting at all hours about desired sets and the defenses they were laying each week. That’s a freshman QB in HIGH SCHOOL. But Kyler couldn’t be bothered.

structure the contract so you don’t have to wait so long to keep telling the public Kyler is the guy because his contract is so big.

Six year rebuilds suck

Im done talking Kyler the Cardinal unless he still with the team after the draft. In my eyes, he's no longer a Cardinal and I'm moving on.

With that being said, I'm actually quite surprised this thread and others recently created are still going. For such a normally tight lipped organization, there's a lot of recent chatter about Kyler. That means MB is allowing it and shows he'd rather look better than Kyler at the detriment of the team. The only info being leaked should be positive at this point to help his trade value, but MBs ego won't allow that and now we might end up releasing him or being stuck in this overall craptastic world for 2-3 more years.

Meh!

If you're still using 2022 arguments when JG has come out and said he watches a ton of film. Then we'll just agree to disagree.

Its easier to just blame his immaturity years ago for this cluster then realize he's just not special mentally & has physical limitations.

We're in an AI age my friend.

Jonathan Gannon has consistently praised Kyler Murray's dedication, highlighting their strong bond built on constant film study and communication, even calling him an "elite" talent whose film habits improved significantly under Gannon's tenure, despite past controversies regarding study time and the infamous "independent study clause" in Murray's contract that was later removed due to backlash. Gannon sees Murray as a "direct reflection of me," emphasizing their mutual trust, but also faced questions about his commitment during the 2025 season when Murray was injured and backup Jacoby Brissett played well.
Key Aspects of Their Film Relationship:
  • Constant Communication: Gannon has described late-night calls and plane conversations with Murray reviewing game film, showcasing an intense, around-the-clock study habit.
  • Building Trust: Gannon values Murray coming to him with questions, fostering a relationship where Murray feels his opinion matters, which Gannon sees as a sign of respect and trust, says this Arizona Sports article.
  • Accountability & Competitiveness: Gannon appreciates Murray's "fire in his gut" and competitive nature, which he believes drives the team, notes this Arizona Sports article.

I'll look for it specifically in time.

Irrelevant, but ok. Smear the guy you signed a contract with to make it look better when you decide to get out of the contract later. Same old Cardinals
Do you think the Cardinals asked Weinfuss to write an article about Kyler's behavior three year ago? I don't really understand why you think the team is pressuring ESPN writers to do a recap article about this?

I don’t understand why the team would get the benefit of the doubt for anything.

Butt behavior is standard operating behavior for them

I took this more of Weinfuss re-publishing known events from 2021/2022 for #content vs the team influencing spin. I would think they would have leaked unreported info instead.

We all looked at Kyler advocating for players in the draft and free agent process as a good thing at the time. Like leadership and such. We loved how Kyler was excited for PJJ.

I still don't really understand the problem with the QB advocating for players he'd like to play with. It's up to the team if they want to act on it or not..

Yeah it’s crazy that now it’s being spun as a negative. I don’t think Weinfuss is doing that on his own.

The aggregators are looking for content and engagement. They are looking to make a big deal about it. Seems weird for Weinfuss to bring it up without input from somewhere.

Oh well if Gannon said so....

Brady makes a good point that his lack of height is a legitimate hindrance for Murray. He also talked about Drew Brees and how he was able to overcome it by relentlessly working on the techniques and study he needed to move in the pocket, work from the balls of his toes, and deliver the ball quickly with a high release, every day and throughout the off-season. Things we've NEVER heard about Murray and for which there is NO evidence. It seems as though he just has his dad telling him, keep it up, you're awesome! The Cardinals are a lousy organization, nothing's your fault!

So daves...you're basically repeating my critique of Kyler. Thank you.

Thats a different problem than he's not watching enough game film.

Its a physical problem that he hasnt sought out to overcome.

The purpose of my posting the Brady clip was it echoed what I've been saying.
