Katie Ledecky is the Michael Phelps of female swimmers with nine Olympic gold medals and 21 world championship gold medals to her name, each total accounting for the most in history by a female swimmer.
On Wednesday, the American superstar added to her legend with another historic performance in her first high-level race since the Paris Olympics in 2024, scoring a dominant win and increasing her impressive win streak in the 1500 meter freestyle to open a Tyr Pro Series Meet in Fort Lauderdale (FL).
Ledecky has not lost a 1500 meter race since she was 13 years old, which came to 17-year-old Kaitlin Pawlowicz at the Potomac Valley Championships in Maryland back in 2010.

Ledecky's time of 15 minutes, 24.51 seconds was the second-fast in 1500m freestyle history. She won her heat by 39 seconds, lapping four of the other nine swimmers in the race.
The only faster time on record is Ledecky's own 2018 world record of 15 minutes, 20.48 seconds recorded in 2018.
The next fastest time is the 15 minutes, 38.88 seconds mark recorded by Dane Lotte, who won silver behind Ledecky at the 2013 World Championships.
The event is expected to continue through Saturday with Jillian Cox, Kate Hurst, Michaela Mattes and Kristel Kobrich rounding out the top five.
