Kate Martin Makes Caitlin Clark Admission After Fever Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin have deep ties that run back to their college days with the Iowa Hawkeyes.
After years of playing alongside each other at Iowa, the two have been battling in the WNBA. They recently faced off in a matchup between the Indiana Fever and the Golden State Valkyries.
Clark and the Fever wound up losing to Golden State 88-77.
Following the loss, Martin was asked about Caitlin Clark's response. After mentioning that the two had mutual thoughts on their matchups, she explained that she will always be rooting for the Fever guard.
"We know somebody’s gonna have to win, somebody’s gonna have to lose," Martin said. "We’re there for each other always. Happy we won but I’m always cheering her on, always in her corner."
On a previous occasion, Clark also had all the praise for Martin. "She makes shots, she makes 3s, she always has her feet ready," Clark had said last year. "From a basketball standpoint at times she could get a little overlooked. But she could do some amazing things − she can do some things I couldn’t do! Her mid-post game is really good, she has a nice little fadeaway, she has a high basketball IQ."
Kate Martin is currently playing in her first season with the Golden State Valkyries. After spending her rookie season with the Las Vegas Aces, Martin was selected by the Valkyries in the expansion draft.
In her first season in Golden State, Martin has posted 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game.
Caitlin Clark is having yet another stellar season with the Indiana Fever, averaging 19.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game.
