BERLIN — Kade Hindel gave the defending Division IV state champions quite a tussle on Friday night, but host Hiland made the most of the little offense it produced.
Grady Monigold's long two-run homer down the line in right field the third inning account for the game's only runs in a 2-0 nonleague win against visiting Tri-Valley.
Hindel, who allowed only six hits in a complete game, was bested by Hawks hurler Logan Yoder, who twirled a three-hitter and struck out six.
Tri-Valley had runners on base in the each of the final four innings but failed to score.
