He's had far fewer bad days the past two years than Whiz. In some cases (all the wins, the close losses), it's been the only thing that's gone right for the Cards.
The Cards aren't going to hire a big name. They won't pay it, and they'd have to overpay to get one. Going with an assistant. Might as well go with the up-and-comer you already know and already has the personnel on one side of the ball.
