The New York Mets have seen better days offensively. After their 3-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Monday, they've scored just three runs or less in six straight games and are 2-4 in that stretch.
It doesn't help that superstar slugger Juan Soto isn't playing up to the level of his record-breaking 15-year, $765 million contract. The 26-year-old hasn't had a multi-hit game since May 9 and is slashing .246/.376/.463 with eight homers and 20 RBI this season.
Soto went 1-for-4 against the Red Sox (24-25) on Monday, and now has just four hits in his last 24 at-bats.

After not hustling on a potential infield single Sunday night against New York, Soto was held to a long single in Monday's loss after admiring a fly ball that hit the wall. He has faced backlash for this, and was asked after the game why he didn't hustle out of the batter's box in the last couple of contests.
"I think I've been hustling pretty hard. If you see it today, you could tell," the 2019 World Series champion said.
Soto went 1-for-10 with four walks and two runs scored in the Mets' (29-19) previous series vs. the New York Yankees.
The outfielder signed with the Mets this past offseason after helping lead the Yankees (27-19) to their first World Series appearance since 2009 last year. He slashed .288/.419/.569 with 41 homers and 109 RBI in 157 regular season games and .327/.469/.633 with four homers and nine RBI in 14 postseason games.
This season, Soto is being outshined by star teammates Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor. The former is slashing .301/.408/.557 with nine homers and 37 RBI, while the latter is slashing .279/.347/.463 with nine homers and 28 RBI.
The Mets have two more games against the Red Sox before hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers.
