John Cena says he’s a man of his word.

Cena is set to compete in his final match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main event on December 13. Tickets for the event went on sale on Friday morning. In response to a post promoting the sale, Cena also addressed speculation that he could extend his retirement tour beyond that match.

Fans and some wrestling personalities have said that Cena should compete through WrestleMania 42, noting that it’s a bigger sendoff than the one planned. However, Cena says that no matter what people think, he’s sticking to his word about ending his career in December.

“Despite any speculation or rumors, on July 6, 2024 I announced I would retire from WWE in ring participation. I am far from perfect but strive to be a person whose word has value. 12/13/25 will be my final match,” John Cena said on Twitter/X. “I am beyond grateful for every moment WWE has given me. I am excited for 12/13 & look forward to seeing all of you one last time.”

Who is John Cena’s final opponent?

The date and venue are set, but fans still do not know who John Cena’s final opponent will be. Gunther has long been a name speculated to get that honor, but Dominik Mysterio has also said he’d love to be the one to end Cena’s career.

During a recent appearance on the New Heights podcast, The Rock said that he actually has some influence on picking Cena’s opponent. However, he believes that final decision should be left up to John Cena himself.

“I have a tiny bit of influence in the booking of it, but really it’s whoever John wants. That’s what it comes down to. Whoever he wants. That should be who it is,” he explained. “It’s not me, Nick Khan, or Triple H. It’s whoever John wants. That guy has earned it. The best part about John is that he comes as advertised. Who you think he is, that’s who he is. He’s a good dude, and I love that guy.”
