The Golden State Warriors’ activity on the trade market this season could make or break their 2025-26 campaign.

The Dubs have yet to complete a deal, but several NBA insiders have suggested that the struggling Western Conference club won’t be silent for much longer.

Unfortunately for Stephen Curry and the Warriors, a recent trade update involving one of their most appealing trade assets, Jimmy Butler, isn’t great news.

“In the absence of a season-saving deal for Giannis that is clearly unlikely (see above), the Warriors might have to accept the fact that this current group — by and large — is going to be it,” The Athletic’s Sam Amick wrote Wednesday.

“Here’s why: Team sources say they’re staunchly against the notion of trading either Draymond Green or Jimmy Butler, which creates quite a predicament when you’re trying to match salaries of high-level players.”

Essentially, with Golden State reportedly reluctant to include Butler in trade talks, the organization may find it nearly impossible to land established superstars like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Davis.

To Butler’s credit, while he can be overly passive on the offensive end, he’s surprisingly been one of the Dubs' most prolific three-point shooters this year.

The well-known and respected two-way stud is averaging 19.7 points per game while shooting 51.6% from the field and 41.7% from beyond the arc.

Still, it would be nice for the Warriors to have the option of swapping Butler for an asset who could help raise the franchise’s ceiling drastically between now and the start of the postseason.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case for the Dubs.
