Jannik Sinner Personal News Emerges on Wednesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Weeks after lifting his first Wimbledon trophy, Jannik Sinner is back in the headlines with a major change to his team. The 23-year-old Italian, who is quickly becoming one of tennis’ biggest names, has rehired his former fitness coach, Umberto Ferrara.

Ferrara was a key figure in Sinner’s early rise but was let go last year after a doping controversy. The incident stemmed from a trace of the banned substance Clostebol being found in Sinner’s system. While Sinner was initially cleared, claiming the exposure happened during a massage from his then-physio Giacomo Naldi, the World Anti-Doping Agency appealed the decision.

Sinner eventually accepted a three-month ban, which ended before the Italian Open in May. Ferrara briefly worked with Matteo Berrettini after severing ties with Ferrara.

“Umberto has played an important role in Jannik's development to date, and his return reflects a renewed focus on continuity and performance at the highest level,” said Sinner’s team on Wednesday.

BREAKING — Umberto Ferrara is officially back in Jannik Sinner’s team.

The physical trainer, key in Sinner’s early rise, rejoins the staff after a long separation.
A new chapter begins — with familiar strength behind him.

This move also follows Sinner’s decision to remove fitness coach Marco Panichi and long-time physiotherapist Ulises Badio from his team, signaling a fresh but familiar start as his career continues to develop.

As for what’s next, Sinner recently pulled out of the Canadian Open, joining Carlos Alcaraz and Jack Draper in skipping the tournament to rest.

“I am really disappointed to be missing the National Bank Open in Toronto,” Sinner said, citing the need to stay fresh for the hard court swing.

The Wimbledon champ will return to action at the Cincinnati Open next month, looking to fine-tune his game before defending his U.S. Open title.
