The Memphis Grizzlies received good news ahead of their NBA play-in game against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.
Ja Morant is expected to play after dealing with a right ankle sprain. Morant first suffered the injury in the third quarter of Tuesday's loss against the Golden State Warriors. He returned in the fourth quarter, but appeared to be limited.
After the game, Morant told reporters that he would be playing on Friday. Doubt was created when the Grizzlies star missed Thursday's practice.
Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo said that Morant would be a gametime decision. He was listed as questionable on the injury report leading up to the game.
Morant's availability is a huge development for the Grizzlies. He's been playing his best basketball of the season in the last two months.
Morant averaged 29.5 points in eight March games, then scored 30.2 points per game in five April regular season games.
